Of the fucking truck that ran my ass over in the middle of the night?

Unholy hell on a stick. I’m sore. And I certainly don’t mean ‘wind beneath your wings’ kinda soar…I mean crushed by a monster truck kinda sore. I can’t even imagine what I’m going to feel like when I actually run at a pace faster than shuffle.

Is it going to feel like this every morning after?

After my coffee (I may give be giving up carbonated drinks and liquid gold (beer) but I will NOT give up my morning cuppa) I took Pigzilla the 2nd to school then came back to the house to do my Pilates DVD.

I haven’t done Pilates in about 5 years. I have 2 dvds. Today I did the beginning 15 minute workout with my “Magic Circle.” (Magic Circle my ass. I’m still fat. False advertising!) It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t really that challenging. I may have to buy a different ‘circle’ workout dvd. I’m not quite ready to move into

This 'magic circle' needs more pixie dust.

This magic circle needs more pixie dust.

my hour long pilates session, but I need more than what the Danskin not so Magic Circle offers

Of course, I may be singing a different song tomorrow when I can’t get out of bed.

Again.

wanna know whats sad? if i do a workout and i’m not sore the next day i feel like i didn’t do enough or push myself hard enough.

  2. Hogzilla says:

yeah, I’m actually the same way. It’s because my basketball coach drilled No Pain No Gain into my head. And it really stuck.

Of course, he also drilled into my head that 140lbs was fat and sadly, I thought he was right. Now I would give a vital organ to see 140 on the scale again.

I’m sorry I read your blog and I feel bad for you and all that but I can’t stop staring at the magic ring. What the hell is that thing? What do you do with it?

  4. Hogzilla says:

well, I can tell you one thing it doesn’t do…make you suddenly unfat.

Remember the Thighmaster? You kinda use it like that, except everywhere. There’s one exercise where you press one padded end of the the ring to your chin and then press the opposite side of the ring with your hands. This helps strengthen your neck–or in my case, it just makes you look like a fool pressing a purple circle against your chin.

The ab exercises are a little difficult. You keep the ring between your ankles and press inward as you do the ab work. It works your thighs and abs. And in my case. your sanity.

Sore is good. For a couple days, then it gets old. Actually, the worst of the soreness should pass in 2-3 days. Epsom salt and hot soaks are good. 😉

That circle is kinda scary. Makes me wonder where it goes. I’m sorry about the pain. Hey, I actually went to the gym today and did the plan 60/90 thing. Although my jog was more of a slow bounce but I did it and was feeling good until these two older women got on treadmills beside me and totally smoked my butt. Craps!
I’ll probably feel awful tomorrow. I’m going to get in my three days where I can.

  7. CarbKiller says:

Loribelle I love your logic. I have no idea why you think logic should work here when clearly we’re hanging our dirty workout laundry on the internet but I like your optimism. YOU ROCK!

KJ I’m with you. THat is some seriously scary stuff. And I’m impressed as hell that you did the treadmill thing with the 60/90. You’re awesome.

  8. That ring scares the pants off me! You’re a braver woman than I am. I tried Winsor pilates twice and decided that Mari Winsor is a sadist and was out to get me. Then VHS went out of style, and it was a perfect excuse not to do that anymore.

On a more positive note, I did my WiiFit again today and posted about it on my blog.

  9. Hogzilla says:

don’t be afraid of the circle.

it’s a magic circle. Who’s afraid of a magic circle? It’s round and it’s magic. Nothing to fear.

I know how you feel. Last Wednesday, dh picked up Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2009 for Wii for me. The first thing I did was throw the directions aside and “customize” my workout, which resulted in 10 minutes of various forms of squats. Really vigorous squats. The first time I was able to sit, stand or flex my thighs without PAIN (even dh throwing his leg across mine at night HURT) was yesterday. Of course, now that it doesn’t hurt anymore, I’m tempted to dive in for another 10 mins of squats. No pain, no gain…right?

I so want the wii fit for Christmas. It sounds like awesome torture.

  12. Rhonda says:

Hey, at least you’re moving–that’s awesome!!

  13. Jodie says:

gawd! Pilates is pretzel exercising. LOL I did it once [windsor i believe], after I’d had my first child and boy was that a nightmare. I think I must’ve chosen some nazi instructor without realizing and just about died!

you are a far more braver woman than I. Give me an exercise bike and my fave shows and I’m outta there! Although… I do have the Gillian Anderson DVD Biggest Winner set sitting around….. hmmm

  14. Laura says:

You mean there’s more to getting ready for the half-marathon than yesterday’s “run”? My legs are killing me today! But I’m told that within two weeks I will be “craving” running.

    We’ll see.

  15. Lorrie says:

You crack me up! So…I take it you had a good run, huh? If you feel like you’ve been run over by a truck that “IS” a good sign right? Way to go…you did great! Although that doesn’t make it any easier does it? Oh, and about the magic circle, not feeling it may be the magic! Don’t be stingy with that kind of magic I’d like some too!

  16. Mia says:

Okay – I must confess that I love Pilates and the magic ring only feels like it isn’t doing anything. Increase the pace of the squeezing and well, let’s just say the effects are cummulative.

I have some kettle bell dvds that i need to get back to and it is on the list along with a million others.

Great work HZ and now where is CK’s running experience? CK? get moving girl!

  17. Hogzilla says:

I really really want a wii. Wah. I wanna do wii fit and have Jillian yell at me like on tv…or maybe Bob can yell at me. He’s hot and has tattoos…which make me hot.

FWIW I can tell by the shooting pain in my inner thigh that the magic circle did some work today…Sadly, it’s magic does not seem to extend to pain free results. Sigh.

  18. Loribelle says:

I’m thinking I need a Wii after reading these comments. I want the one with tattoos. Can it give me more tattoos? That would be the ULTIMATE in tech gadgets. Just sayin’.

CK, logic works. Hey, I’ve, um, limped, in your pain at least and know how to deal with it. How’s that work? LOL.

  19. Barbara says:

You will not be sore every time. You’ll work up to feeling really good most of the time.

But a word: yoga. It will help get the lactic acid out of your muscles if you stretch really well after you run. Even a few minutes of downdog will help.

    Go, you.

  20. Hogzilla says:

Loribelle, even if there is a WiiTattoo, I’m not sure I’m wiilling (see what I did there?)to give it a try.

Barbara I haven’t done yoga in forever! I’m wondering if I could do a DVD properly or if I would need to go to class to relearn the techniques. I always did enjoy yoga when I took the class several years ago. Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  21. CarbKiller says:

LOL Loribelle I’m trying to picture a Wii tattoo. The mind boggles…

Fantastic site. I find the Nintendo Wii very interesting. I don’t have time to read everything here right now, I found this site when looking for something else on Bing, but I’ve bookmarked your homepage and will check back soon to see the latest articles. My wife, my son, and I love playing Wii games together. We have such a great time when we are playing them. It’s really a great way to spend some quality family time. I have a small blog about the Wii. Please check out my site at http://www.Wii-Chip.com when you have time and please let me know how you like it. Thanks again for a very enjoyable website. Have a great weekend!
