Okay forget the Champion Chip because this thing is AWESOME.

Garmin Forerunner 405
Garmin Forerunner 405

The best part is if I didn’t need the Champion Chip then I DEFINITELY don’t need this one. But it’s so handy.

Introducing the Garmin 405, my solution to the fact that every pedometer I’ve ever touched has promptly stopped working.

This thing is tough. And it has features!

I am such a sucker for features

Loaded with serious training features, Forerunner 405 continuously monitors your time, distance, pace, calories and heart rate (when paired with heart rate monitor). Each run is stored in memory so you can review and analyze the data to see how you’ve improved. You can even download recorded courses to compete against previous workouts or race a Virtual Partner®. Customize Forerunner’s data screens for instant feedback while you train.

Have I mentioned yet that I’m not taking this running insanity past the half marathon? I want to one day do ONE marathon (yes, for the bling) but my mission in life is to use the half marathon training as a weight loss tool. So this watch thing is pretty much 100% unnecessary. *sigh*

  1. Back when I used to cycle a lot… my on-the-handle-bars little computer saved me from giving up so many times…. If I’m hitting a wall, setting little challenges like “must not go below x mph up this hill” (x is too embarrassing to post) or must not let average for entire ride drop below y per hour (also embarrassing) really helped me.

    Gadgets rock.

And my little computer, I bought in, probably 1992 or 1993, still works just fine. Or at least it did the last time I got on my bike… 3 years ago. G’ah! Must get on bike.

    I have one of these : http://www.polarusa.com/us-en/.....aining/F4/

its not as groovy as that Garmin there, but it gives me a really accurate calorie count from my heart rate.

  4. When I’m being good, which I’ve notably not been lately, the heart rate monitor is the BEST investment I’ve made as far as workout gear. It’s the most motivating tool, and it tells me when I need to push a bit more and when I’m pushing too hard.

Even if you don’t get this thing, a heart rate monitor, with a calorie counter, is worth every penny you’ll spend on it.

I’ve always wanted one of those!!!!

You are all enabling me you realize that right? On the other hand {{HUGS}} to each of you for not saying “you want to buy WHAT?!!!”

LOL. I really can’t justify the purchase at the moment (mostly because I don’t have the extra money) but I’m thinking about it.
