It’s been almost exactly a month since I last worked out. I knew that if I didn’t go back to the gym today, I would probably fall into the old routine of talking about it, but not going.

And I’ve worked too hard to sabatoge myself like that. So this morning, the prodigal exerciser returned.

There’s something to be said about returning with flair. When I walked in, I thought I smelled something funny. Not bad B.O. funny (though someone did smell like onions today. *gag*) but campfire funny. And no, campfires don’t usually smell funny, but when you smell a campfire in the middle of the gym, I promise, it’s funny.

We couldn’t figure out what it was at first, because there was no smoke. But then suddenly, there was. A lot. It was coming from a treadmill. A dude was running so freaking fast, he literally started a fire. He was smokin! It didn’t take long for the smoke to fill the room. The Trainer Boys rushed to put the fire out, and set up a dozen fans to make the smoke go away.

I asked them if this was a new challenge, because if it was, I would not be participating.

For my workout, I did sparkle, but I did not catch anything on fire. I did 25 mins on the elliptical; alternating 1 min of “fast” sprints with 2 mins of regular paced running. I did 2.15 miles. Then I did my ab workout, then off the circuit room. I was pleased that I was able to return to weight training at the same weight I left off at a month ago on every machine but the shoulder press. That made me pretty darn happy.

I’ve joined Sparkpeople’s Sweatsuit to Swimsuit bootcamp so I’ll be doing their daily exercises along with my 5 days of working out. My goal is to lose 8 lbs in May. Let’s see if I can do it.
