I have been a busy, busy monkey. I’m learning real estate investing (no, I’m not becoming an agent) and the learning curve is very steep. I love it though! The best part? everyone I talk to suggests you walk around the neighborhoods you’re interested in to get the lay of the land. I’ve been racking up tons of miles just walking! I don’t count those toward working out though because I’m not really working hard on the workout side of it. I still go home at the end of the day and do continue the plan.

Plus I get to wear my awesome fanny pack so I can carry a little notebook, a camera, some business cards, etc. You know what I’ve learned? Once you break the barrier of shame there is no going back. The first time I wore that thing I was beyond horrified and self-conscious, now I don’t really care. I just like talking about it because I know somewhere in Little Rock, HZ is squirming like I just ran my nails down a chalkboard. Muhahahaha!

I think I got over the hump of horrific Advil-popping misery. I’m clearly never going to love running but dragging my ass out there to fulfill my commitment is not quite as excruciating as it was two weeks ago. (YAY)

I will say though, that I’m totally jealous of HZ’s Big Dam Bridge. How totally awesome would it be to run on that thing! Yes, we have the beach here in Los Angeles but you know what the beach has? Wind and sand. Granted it’s not like getting stuck in a major sandstorm but it’s still all kinds of fun to run with allergies.

On the other hand on any given day I can go outside and see:

That’s the street level view of Long Beach Harbor. See that big pillar on the left? the Queen Mary is just to the right of it. And you see that building on the far right? That’s the Long Beach Aquarium. Want to hear something sad? I’ve never been to the aquarium and I haven’t visited the Queen Mary since 3rd grade.

The cool part about living in LA is there are tons of things to see. The bad part is that playing tourist gets very expensive so I don’t have a chance to do it very often.

I’m still jealous of the Big Dam Bridge.

you should be jealous. it rocks. I think I’ll take pics of it tonight when I go…

Yes, I’m going the the BDB again tonight for run #3. And I’m not even dreading it. How’s that for progress?

BTW: I have deployed the fannypack intervention squad. Do not worry. That white windowless van that’s been following you means you no harm. They’re just scoping out the best time to steal your waist purse and unbrainwash you.
