I’ve become the crazy dog lady. No, not the woman who has 45 dogs, but the one who walks up to random unsuspecting persons walking their dogs and asking “Is your dog friendly? Can I pet him?” I should note at this point that they always say yes if the dogs are friendly.

Sometimes this gets me into trouble.

For example, several weeks ago my friend Sabrina and I were on our way to a writer’s society meeting and decided a detour to Starbucks was in order. I walked right up to a guy and asked him if I could pet his Rottweiler. Two seconds later I’m sitting on the floor rubbing the dog (beautiful dog by the way) and about 30 seconds after that a woman comes flying through the double doors at Starbucks. Clearly the woman is dog’s owner’s possessive girlfriend. I looked up at her and realized, dog owner was HOT, and I was so distracted by the dog I didn’t even notice. Crap!

This is what happens when your dog dies after 17 years and you realize that as a busy adult it would be totally irresponsible of you to get another one. You stoop to stalking people for their pets.

Yesterday I walked up to a cute little old man who was walking his dog (a collie) near my parent’s house and asked the same question. “Yes, of course,” he responded with a grin, “but she’s pretty shy.” Shy was an understatement. This dog was doing everything in its power to stay on the other side of Mr. Owner therefore putting him in the middle.

The funniest part was, the Mr. Owner was so sad that the dog wouldn’t cooperate. He was a very nice man though. And that dog even after 5 minutes of sitting on the street letting her get used to me still wouldn’t even venture over for a sniff.

So this is my new weekend activity. And before anyone suggests a feline companion, I’m allergic to cats.

Oh, and I didn’t acutally workout because Saturdays are my day off so put me down for a big fat zero (aka donut) on the tally sheet. Is it weird that I feel guilty for taking the day off?

Is it weird? Nope! it’s awesome, you are getting into the groove. Wait until you do extra workouts to eat something naughty, then you’ve really corssed over to the dark side, lol
