Well, I spent a majority of yesterday watching voting returns on mute. Let me tell you I could have kissed the person who invented mute. They ROCK! I heard no whining/griping/cheering/justifications/etc. It was AWESOME. I just saw states go red or blue. And ate pizza. And drank a lot of Dr. Pepper (loves me some Dr. Pepper). I’m not one of those people glued to the Academy Awards or the Super Bowl but you can definitely see me parked in front of the TV on prez election night.

So that being said imagine my surprise when toward the end of the evening I decided to do situps (20 of them), and then go to the gym. It was only 9:30pm in Cali so why not right?

Note to self- do not take post-Dr. Pepper high to the gym

First of all, I haven’t had caffeine regularly in about almost six months. It had gotten to the point where I was drinking pots of coffee or packs of Diet Coke depending on the day. It was baaaad.

So here I drank *whimper* three Dr. Pepper’s yesterday. I was caffeinated, and excited that I will no longer be getting 6000 robo calls a day on my home phone. And I won’t have to see every city street papered with signs. And every website I go to will no longer have state-targeted ad banners based on my IP address. It was OVER. I was so excited I went to the gym.

Let me be honest and say this is why I don’t drink booze (well, that and I mostly don’t like the taste). I lasted exactly 10 minutes on the elliptical machine and had to call it a day when the stomach cramps started. Is drinking Dr. Pepper and then going to the gym like eating food and then going swimming? Should I have waited an hour? I have no idea. Ugh.

  1. The pizza probably didn’t help matters, but everyone’s different. I can’t work out within 2 hours after I eat or I get all queasy, but there are plenty of other exercisers in the world who get nauseated working out on an empty stomach. You may have to play and see what works for you.

An excellent point, Connie. I suspect my pizza/caffeine tolerance has grown low now that I’m training for this insanity. The way I figure it that was more gym time then I would have otherwise gotten on election night!

OMGosh! This was the funniest post especially after your Dr. Pepper high posting last night.

I love elections and this year’s had so many highs and lows it was especially wonderful. Plus, the two speeches last night showed how both of these candidates were incredible choices for our country.

Pizza and Dr Pepper? I feel better about my celebratory cheese burger, but I loved all the comments and kept going back and forth between Fox and MSNBC.

I think probably the pizza did you in…though carbonated drinks do interfere with oxygen absorption in the muscles…

At least you went to the gym. I didn’t. LOL I just drank a lot and pretended to work out in my head.
